A Songs2Share Celebration

We just finished up negotiations with the Robert’s Gym Board, in Roberts Illinois = and they are very happy to have S2S hold our first concert in their building!   Mark your calendars for June 28, 2009.  We’ll be closing out the Roberts celebration of Ford County’s 150th birthday. We are also exploring the idea of small house jams.  We have a staffer who wants to do drumming circles and this will help keep her entertained!

VIDEO

Apple is believed to be wrapping up a feature in iTunes 8 that will allow users to stream their iTunes video purchases directly from the company’s servers for playback anywhere without eating up your own storage space.  =  We’ve added video to our marketing program.  Videotape everything.  Buy a good camera.  Video is here and very saleable!

Call For Music For Licensing

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

We’ve made a new friend over at Music Dealers in Chicago and highly recommend you check them out as your music licensing representative.  Songs2Share licenses the SONG for you while Music Dealers will license the SOUND RECORDING for you.  You can submit the same music to both Songs2Share and Music Dealers as we are both non-exclusive and work with each other.   That’s why I’m posting this call for music they just sent me.

Please make an account over there and upload your .wav files.  Then send them an e-mail through their contact button, telling them Songs2Share sent you.  Thanks a bunch and good luck getting your music placed.  Here’s what they need immediately ~

Hey everyone,

We have a couple of jobs that are not on the job board that call for some really cool indie rock stuff (along the lines of the Strokes or The White Stripes).

If any of you have anything that is along those lines please upload it immediately or if you have something that works in your account, point us in the right direction.

This is something that is due asap but if you have material like this for future opportunities, get it in the system. We have a lot of work coming in that calls for this kind of stuff. Let me know.

Thanks everyone,

Tim Lincoln

Moa & Arenla Subong, Songwriters

moa-aren-retro-live-cafe.jpg

Moa & Arenla are writing to us from India.  Moa constructs a wind instrument he crafts called a bamhum.  Both he and his wife are playing the bamhum on the song we just finished titled Yearning For Tomorrow.  As soon as we get the paperwork, we’ll post it at this website.

Moa is such a nice guy (and great guitarist) he offered to make me my own bamhum!!!  Then he offered to make one for my partner.  I’ve asked to purchase 2 from him as Songs2Share will donate them to local school music departments.  They look very interesting and I look forward to recievin his gift.  There are a lot of generous and wonderful music people on this Internet.

Introducing a new songwriter to the Songs2Share community.
His name is David Mac Mullan and he currently resides in Switzerland.  He sent in a photo of himself singing “New York New York” which he says goes over well with his European audiences.

His song titled You’re Going To Break My Heart is in the music player on our home page.  It is a very good mood piece for film, as well as a good performing piece with guitar and vocal alone or orchestrated.

A Songs2Share Event January 15, 2009   Issue #2 “It’s where the music took us…”                     Robbie Robertson/The Last Waltz

Marsha Sinetar wrote a book titled “Do What You Love And The Money Will Follow”.  Over the past 2 years I’ve discovered I love working with songwriters, helping them polish their songs until they are the best we both feel, that they can be.We realize that a 20 piece orchestra will make them sound different, even better, but we’re after making a good song, not always a giant production.  All the songwriters I’ve worked with thus far have come away feeling the song was better after some revision, than when it was submitted.  I’m in the process of getting together a before and after catalog of S2S songs.  There are a couple of songwriter testimonials posted at the Songs2Share.com website under the VISION button.  So that’s what we’re going to be about this year—doing what we love.

Karl & I made a MobiFlick at the PAH Fest Chicago 2008.  We spent nearly 7 days making a 6 minute video at Columbia College.  We told my brother Harry’s story about finding the sunken Lady Elgin in Lake Michigan.  It was truly an intense learning experience. This was the first time either Karl or I had ever split a scene or used video editing software.  And now—well, we just bought our first High Definition Video camera and are looking to record Songs2Share songs being performed. We also want to tell stories with video.  We want to document what we do.  We want to interview musicians and songwriters and make music videos too.So our License Agreement must change to reflect this new marketing tool.  We are now signing music videos to be licensed in hourly blocks.  The day is coming that everybody will have access to streaming video at their websites.***************************************************

Friendly InspirationsHere are 3 monthly ideas for song lyric, poems, instrumental titles, photos, video, short story or anything they inspire you to create.  Use the title if you like & make something!

1.
The Hidden Factors—Hidden factors are emotions/thoughts/events you get from making a certain decision.  There are hidden factors walking in an ice storm.

2. Mama Crow—When I strip chicken skins or cook a turkey, I throw the scraps outside for Mama Crow.  She’s a big black crow that has little baby crows.  We’ve got a children’s song titled Mama Bird if you need one.

3. The DosageDo you watch TV, take pharmaceuticals, alcohol, smoke, toke, flirt, text message, etc = what’s your dosage baby!!!  Are you a love junkie?  What is the dosage that gets you off.

WELCOME ~ Maestro Guilherme Schroeter has joined Songs2Share as a Creative Assistant.  He has worked two songs with new songwriters.  It is an honor to have this classically trained pianist from Brazil on our team.  He is currently promoting his music in the Los Angeles California area and is available for concerts.  Please send us an e-mail if you can help him secure piano or composing opportunities or contact him at www.MySpace.com/guilhermeschroetercompose.

David MacMullan, Terry Edmonds, and Moa & Arenla & Imli Subong = new songwriters we are excited to be working with.  Thanks for adding to our song catalog.  We’re doing our best promoting your work.

*Lori Hajost of www.artdesignassociates.com = Thanks for updating our Trixie and Danni Paris mascots.  The holiday attire added a festive feeling to our MySpace sites.  Perhaps Trixie needs her pink jacket on for the new website header—instead of the tank top!!!  We’re getting some winter weather in the Chicago area.  And you say you are not coming back dear cousin—oh what you are missing = -20 with the wind chill.  LOL

John Wu—Again we want to thank John for sticking with us, helping us get the website updated to reflect our growth.
