TV Commercial - Board Game

Music Call:

Our client is looking for a 30 SECOND piece for an upcoming TV commercial. This commercial is for a new board game directed at tweens and teens.

About The Game:
In the game, your game piece gets upgraded from a car to a sports car to a limo or a scooter to a dirt bike to a chopper. As you upgrade you earn more and win more. This game is all about living the millionaire lifestyle. Fast cars, yachts, choppers, leer jets (G6, ha ha!) , that sort of thing. The game board design is very blinged out.

They want a Poppy Rap song about showing off your money and sort of flaunting it in other’s faces. The lyrics could have something to do with ‘Upgrading’ your lifestyle. For the most part this is about just being fabulously, ridiculously rich.

Keep in mind - it needs to be fun and appeal to tweens.

Genre:

Pop Rap

Emotion:

Rich / Fun / Carefree

Vocals/Instrumental:

Vocals - Male

Explicit Lyrics:

No

Duration:

Short Clips

Other Info:

VERY IMPORTANT: The spot would be a buyout, which means you would retain only the writers share. The company would own the masters and the publishing. Something custom is ideal.

Please DO NOT Submit unless your song is around 30 seconds.

BLUEBERRIES - Powerful Food Item & In-Season Now!

Blueberries, The Power is in The BLUE!

Blue is the color of powerful anti oxidants, Blue helps reduce cardiovascular disease. Blue is the color that fights cancer, improves memory, aids digestion and improves your vision. Blue is the color of Blueberries.

Most of this little berries power is in a substance called Anthocyanin, the pigment responsible for the blue color. This along with an abundance of vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals make blueberries a super food. Here are just a few of the many health benefits.

1. The Highest antioxidant capacity of just about anything. Anti oxidants boost your immune system, reduce aging, and fight cancer.

2. Eating blueberries regularly can keep memory sharp and improve learning capacity and motor skills. They will help improve memory and concentration especially in people suffering from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. They will even improve your mood. (who could possibly be crabby eating blueberries)

3. Blueberries are high in the fiber you need to keep away constipation and lower cholesterol.

4. The eyes have it. Blueberries have been found to slow down visual loss as well as fight macular degeneration, cataract and myopia.

When picking out berries, the darker blue the better. Choose berries that are firm, have a uniform hue and have a whitish bloom. Shake the container. If they don’t move freely, they may be soft or moldy. They should be free from moisture because water will cause them to decay.

Keep the cold and don’t wash them till you are ready to use them. To get the most of the nutrients, they should be eaten raw. Writing this made me so hungry I devoured a carton just now and they were sooooooooo good. You should have at least one serving a day. You can put them on your cereal, in yogurt, in a smoothie, in chicken salad (really yummy) or just eat them like I just did. They are high in the good stuff, low in calories and taste great. (and gluten free).

148.  IMPRESSIVE
We come back to a one word title - all the rage these days.  Now let’s do some word play.  I visualize my writing projects like word puzzles.  All the letters are there, all the words are there, I just have to put them in the right order.  IMPRESSIVE - You’re so IMPRESSIVE I want to press against you & give you my impression+

149.  Redirect My Voice
After a stint of divorce stress, my voice went North.  The muscles pulled my larynx out of place - too high.  This is common in singers or people who speak a lot.  I’m massaging it back down, into place.  So I learned to Redirect My Voice.  If your voice is your art, you can Redirect Your Voice to say Yes or No.  This can mean a change of mind, a change in life, taking the path less travelled, going rogue, coming home, wishing on stars.

150.  I’m Getting A Much Needed Buzz on my Tongue & Toes
This is a hippie title inspired perhaps, by some homemade minted black currant lemon wine I fermented.  It was a very good day.  Need I say more :-)

When Cathy added her name to the Folk Alley rolls to become FolkAlley.com’s 100,000th registered user, she opened a door to extra website features, available only to registered users, as well as receiving the Alley Chat - Folk Alley’s monthly e-newsletter.

Folk Alley Programming and Marketing Director Linda Fahey says, “It’s listeners like Cathy who really make our work worth the effort. They love folk music, and so do we. Together, we can help keep this community strong and vibrant for years to come.”

Clear Channel’s Free Apps Are A Money-Maker Re-post

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Source: Paid content

Among the eight million people who have downloaded Clear Channel’s free mobile applications, the average user spends 3.5 hours listening to the streaming radio service and visits an average of four stations a week. All of that adds up to profitability for the media conglomerate’s mobile business, demonstrating that for at least some, the medium has started to push past the experimental phase.

Evan Harrison, Clear Channel Radio’s EVP and President of the company’s digital unit, said the applications generate revenues in two major ways. The apps, available on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, increase a radio station’s overall audience (by an average of 15 percent when combining both apps and online), and the apps create additional opportunities for ads.

Less substantial are affiliate fees that are generated when a user buys a song or album through the V Cast app store on Verizon Wireless, or through Apple’s iTunes.

Not only is mobile reusing content from 750 of the company’s terrestrial stations, there’s made-for-mobile programming, too. The apps feature a number of celebrity stations, including radio shows hosted by the Eagles and Maroon 5. The app is also currently featuring an exclusive music video Clear Channel (OTCBB: CCMO) created for Alex Lambert, who was voted off American Idol, and subsequently added to the “Dream” house reality show.

The ads don’t appear in the app until a user selects a station. Then, the ad takes over the whole screen. Harrison says users either have the option to click-through or dismiss it. The ads are returning a roughly 3 to 4 percent click-through rate, he added. In the next iPhone version to be released, the application will feature ads from Apple’s own iAd network, which are touted as being engaging and returning good results. Of course, the content also features the typical audio ads you’d hear over the radio.

Thematic Improvisation/Part 2: Extension

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

s_ee0663cfe60418e453e98e6f1caa4e4d.jpg

In this post I am going to share the concept of “extension”, approach to soloing I learned from jazz trombonist and composer Hal Crook. I believe that this method is a powerful technique that anybody can easily use in the effort learning how to solo in a more organized and consequential way.

If you read my previous post, you are already familiar with the way I practice “imitation”. Briefly, imitation is the repetition of the same melodic curve and rhythmic idea throughout a given number of bars. In this context, extension is meant to generate more interest in the lines you are playing Incorporating a new idea to your previous line.

For example, if your line is A, B, C, D, the extended idea could be A, B, C, D, E, F, “E, F” being the extended segment. This new segment can even be added before the old line i.e., E, F, A, B, C, D.

So, how can you practice extension?

Here’s a very simple method:

1. Choose an accompaniment (metronome, sequencer etc…)

2. Choose an easy harmonic setting (one single chord, a II V I progression, your favorite tune)

3. Play a simple line (4-5 notes) and repeat its melodic curve with the same rhythm 2-3 times

4. Rest for a couple of bars

5. Repeat the same idea AND add a new (extended) line to it.

6. Rest

7. Repeat the whole process practicing for about 1 hour

8. Practice also adding the extended line BEFORE the old line.

Relax, get a cup of coffee, then go back to your guitar and play the same progression just for the fun of it.

Francesco
